Flat steel is one of the most appropriated solution to manufacture insulated cables supporting systems. Cable trays made in flat steel are an alternative to traditional electrical conduit and open wiring systems. It is a cost efficent solution which offers the best protection to the cables.
Besides the classical hot dip galvanised made of zinc, ArcelorMittal has developped a zinc-magnesium coating, Magnelis®, which provides a superior corrosion resistance (up to 10 times better than classical solution according to lab tests). Life time of the cable tray can be extended, especially in corrosive environments. Magnelis® must be specified with a coating mass of 310g/sqm to obtain the best performance. Steel grade, dimensions and zinc coating mass must be selected according to the construction regulations (European and country standards).
